Research focus: Intracellular peptides as modulators of pathways related to energy metabolism

Biography: Graduated in Pharmacy (general curriculum) from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM, 2009), Master (2011) and Doctorate (2015) in Pharmacology from the same institution. During her doctorate, she did a research internship at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, USA) and at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (New York, USA) under the supervision of Professor Michael Aschner (2013). She has two post-doctorates in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of São Paulo (USP, 2015-2019) under the supervision of Professor Emer S. Ferro, evaluating the biological effect of intracellular peptides. During the post-doctorate, she did a research internship abroad at Stockholm University (Stockholm, Sweden, 2017-2018) under the supervision of Professors Jan Nedergaard and Barbara Cannon. Currently, she is Associate Professor level 1A, temporary, in the Department of Pharmacology, Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), and Young Researcher FAPESP (Process 2019 / 25943-1). She has experience in the area of ​​Pharmacology, Physiology and Toxicology, with main interest in the identification and characterization of intracellular peptides capable of modulating parameters related to thermogenesis of adipocytes and brown adipose tissue. She performed studies with the Caenorhabditis elegans too.
